Weighing in on Obesity

The most recent data on obesity in this country has placed Indiana as the 9th most obese state in the nation. Last year's analysis had Indiana at number eight. Before we congratulate ourselves on getting into better shape, it should be pointed out that Indiana did not lower its obesity rate. It actually went up. What dropped Indiana on the list is that other states became significantly heavier. In fact, no state improved their obesity rate.

February 3rd is designated as National Wear Red Day, as Americans nationwide wear red to show support for women’s heart disease awareness. In the U.S., cardiovascular disease is still the #1 cause of death overall and in people age 65 and older.
